What do paper work instructions cost your plant?
Enter your engineers, printed pages and walking time. See the engineering hours, cost, paper and CO2 that go away when work instructions are created, approved and published in HEKA.
Read the case study behind the defaultsabout 1.0 months of one engineer's year, worth CHF 10,600 a year
Paper and printing are only 2% of what paper instructions cost you today. The rest is people's time.
Estimates from your inputs. HEKA time savings use the published industry range and will be confirmed with measured pilot data. Environmental factors cover paper production only: 5.0 g per A4 sheet, 1.34 kg CO2e per kg of paper (UK Government GHG conversion factors 2024), 2 to 13 litres of water per sheet (UNESCO-IHE), 24 trees per tonne of virgin office paper (Conservatree).
How it is calculated
- Today: hours to create new instructions, plus printing time (pages ÷ printer speed), walking for every print run, and the minutes per page to check, hang, swap and sign.
- With HEKA: creation time reduced by the percentage you choose, plus a few minutes per release to review, publish to every station that uses it and notify the line.
- Paper: every printed page, second copies included, is discarded at the next change. The launch package is counted once.
- Defaults come from field data in automotive OEM / Tier 1 production: 100 to 200 pages printed a month by one engineer in about 8 print runs, 15 minutes of walking per run, about 4 minutes per page to hang, swap and sign, 1.5 to 2 hours to create one instruction without a SOP system.
