Why it matters
Most 5S programmes die on paper.
5S is one of the foundations of Lean, yet many MES do not even include it. So it lives on paper checklists and spreadsheets. A plant runs an audit once or twice, files the sheets and moves on. Nobody can say what was achieved last month, which team, line or station was best, or whether the floor is getting better or slowly slipping back. Without visible progress, people lose interest and the workplace goes back to how it was.
